# Known limitations (current release)

Specific behaviors in Signal today, described plainly, with a suggested workaround for each one.

### Limitations

| Area | What happens today | What to do instead |
| ----------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Empire View summary strip | The five cards at the top always count your whole fleet. They ignore the filters and paging of the table below them. | Use the table and its filters for a count that matches what's on screen. Treat the strip as a full-fleet overview. |
| Empire View sort | The table's default sort shows assets with no recorded sale first, then the oldest sale first. | Click a column header to change the sort if you want a different order. |
| Empire View export (toolbar and bulk) | Export only downloads the rows on the current page (up to 50). It uses Signal's default columns, not the columns you've customized to show. | Export one page at a time if you need more than 50 rows. The file always includes Serial Number, Brand, Model, Customer, Status, Equipment Type, Last Spare Sale, and Facility. |
| Empire View map | Pins are placed at each customer's address, and only assets on the current table page are plotted. | Narrow your results with the table or Filters before switching to Map or Split view. |
| Bulk asset import mode | Choosing "Merge" or "Replace" only changes the confirmation wording. Both create new asset records from your file; neither updates or removes assets that already exist. | Check your file for duplicate serial numbers before uploading. A second upload always adds new records; it never updates old ones. |
| Bulk asset import and drafts | An asset created through Bulk Import can land as a draft if your account does not have the `promote` permission. | Turn on the **Drafts** filter in Empire View to find and promote assets that didn't appear where expected. |
| Bulk BOM upload template link | The **Download CSV template** link in Bulk BOM Upload downloads the wrong template, one meant for single-asset BOM imports. | Build your file using the Bulk BOM columns in the CSV templates and column reference page, not the downloaded file. |
| Asset Detail Maintenance tab | Where this tab is available for your organization, it currently shows only a placeholder message. | Use the Maintenance Due card and the Overview tab's maintenance fields, the only maintenance information Signal tracks today. |
| Asset Detail BOM edits | Adding, editing, deleting, or importing BOM parts from the Asset Detail page's BOM & Stock tab does not show a confirmation message, even though the change saves. | Refresh the BOM table if you want to confirm a change went through. |
| Asset Detail BOM Replace | Choosing "Replace" when importing a BOM may leave some parts in place even when the preview shows them as removed. | After a Replace import, check the BOM and manually delete any part that should be gone. |
| Asset Detail document preview | The inline PDF preview only opens from a document card on your phone. On a desktop or tablet, clicking a document downloads or opens it instead. | Use your phone to preview a PDF inline, or download it on desktop to view it. |
| Customers: Brand and Location filters | These filter fields have no options to choose from, so they cannot be used yet. | Use search or the Revenue Trend and Last Order filters to narrow the customer list. |
| Customers: "Has maintenance alerts" filter | Turning this on always returns no customers. | Leave this filter off. |
| Customers: Revenue Trend Alerts | This summary card always reads "0 declining." | Check individual customer pages for their revenue trend instead of relying on this count. |
| Customers: header trend pill | The rising/flat/declining trend pill next to a customer's name on Customer Detail does not appear. | Check the Revenue Trend chart lower on the page instead. |
| Customer header logo | Clicking the logo on the Customer Detail header lets you choose a file, but the change is not saved. | Upload or change a customer's logo from the Edit Customer form instead. |
| Customers: Aftermarket Opportunities | This section on Customer Detail shows real content for very few customers today; most see "No maintenance templates applied for this customer's equipment." | Treat this section as not yet available for most customers. |
| Customer Portal: Deactivate and Reactivate | These menu items on a portal user close the menu but do not change the user's access. | Use **Remove** to take away one portal user's access. To pause everyone's access at once, use Portal Settings > Pause Portal. |
| Customer Portal: Asset Visibility and Facility Access | These settings appear in Portal Settings and the Add Portal User form, but changing them has no effect. Every portal user currently sees all facilities. | Do not rely on these settings to restrict what a portal user can see. |
| Customers: New Customer address | The Street, City, State, Postal Code, and Country fields on the New Customer form are not saved when you create the customer. | Add the address afterward from the customer's Edit Customer form. |
| Customers: Export | The customer list export includes only the 25 rows on the current page. | Export one page at a time if you need more than 25 customers. |
| Customers: Merge Customer source list | The list of customers you can merge from only shows the first 100 customers by opportunity score. | Search first to confirm you can find the customer you want to merge from that list. |
| Documents: Delete | The confirmation dialog says the deletion "can be undone by an admin," but deleting a document removes it immediately and permanently. | Make sure you have the right document open before confirming delete. |
| Products: sort order | The product line table is always sorted by line potential, highest first. There is no control to change the sort. | Use search and the brand filter to narrow the list instead of resorting it. |
| Products: baseline method | Only the "Flat $ / yr" method is available in the potential wizard. "Install count × rate" and "Benchmark" are marked "Soon" and cannot be selected. | Use the flat baseline method for now. |
| Products: "Per variant" scope | Choosing "Per variant" in the potential wizard's first step still saves one baseline at the line level, the same as "Whole product line." | Expect one potential value per line, not per variant, until this changes. |
| Products: revenue mix bars | The "Spare parts / Service kits / Repairs" split shown in the potential wizard preview is a fixed illustrative split. It is not calculated from your data. | Treat the mix percentages as illustrative. They are not a measured breakdown. |
| Visit Planning: adding a stop | You can only add a stop for one of the top 8 suggested accounts for that week. There is no way to type in a different account. | If the account you want isn't listed, check back as suggestions update, or plan that visit outside Signal for now. |
| Visit Planning: Download PDF | This button opens your browser's print dialog. It does not generate a file directly. | Choose "Save as PDF" (or your browser's equivalent) in the print dialog that opens. |
| Analytics: table size | Every table on the Analytics page shows 10 rows per page and cannot be changed. | Use the Download CSV button on a card to get the full data set. |
| Analytics: unattributed sales | Spare sales that cannot be matched to a specific brand are grouped and charted under a placeholder brand called "Unlinked." | Use the "Unknown model/brand sales" export to review these sales individually. |
| Sales-dependent areas | The Dashboard's Spare Sales card, the Orders tab, the Analytics sales tab, and revenue trend charts depend on aftermarket sales data. | If your organization's sales data has not been connected, these areas show an empty or "feed unavailable" message. Ask your Zephyr Intel contact whether your organization's sales data is connected. |
