# Glossary

Plain definitions for the terms Signal uses most. Terms are alphabetical.

### Terms

**Aftermarket potential** The yearly parts and service revenue Signal models for each installed asset in a product line. It starts from a dollar baseline you enter, then adjusts for how hard the equipment runs. Line, brand, and organization totals add up from this per-asset amount. You set and refine it on the Products page.

**Asset** A single piece of installed equipment tracked in Signal, identified by its serial number, brand, model, equipment type, customer, and facility.

**Customer and facility** A customer is an organization Signal tracks equipment for. A customer can have one or more facilities, its physical sites. Distributor accounts call their sites "Offices"; end-user accounts call them "Facilities". Either way, a facility is where the equipment actually sits.

**Empire View** Signal's name for the full asset catalog page. On your phone the same page is labeled "Assets".

**Optional area** A page or menu item that can be turned on or off for your organization, such as Analytics, Products or Visit Planning. If one you expect to see is missing, ask your Zephyr Intel contact.

**Hunting List** A ranked call list on the Dashboard. It orders assets by Aftermarket Opportunity Score to answer "Who should I call today?"

**Install base** All of the equipment your organization has recorded in Signal. You see it in the Empire View list and map, and in Dashboard totals.

**Line card** The set of product lines your organization represents, including brands, product lines, their variants, order types, and modeled aftermarket potential. You build and view your line card on the Products page.

**Opportunity score** A 0 to 100 urgency score. Higher means call sooner. Signal calculates a score for each asset from its spare-sale history and how long it has been installed, then averages an account's asset scores to get that customer's score.

**Signal** The web app you are using. Signal is made by Zephyr Intel to help equipment distributors track their install base and find aftermarket opportunities.

**Spare sale** A recorded aftermarket parts transaction, such as a date, part number, and amount, matched to an asset by serial number. If your organization's sales data has not been connected, spare sale information does not appear.

**Zephyr Intel** The company that makes Signal.
