# Step 1: choose the scope

The first step of the wizard sets whether the baseline applies to the whole product line or to individual variants.

### Steps

1. On the "Where should this baseline apply?" screen, choose one of two cards:
   * **Whole product line** - "One baseline for every installed asset."
   * **Per variant** - "Future: set baselines per variant", with the hint "Applied at line level for now."
2. Click **Continue** to move to the baseline step.

### Notes

* Both options save the same line-level potential today. Choosing **Per variant** does not change how the potential is calculated; setting a baseline per variant is not available yet.
* This feature may not be enabled for your organization. Ask your Zephyr Intel contact.
