# Add variants to a product line

Add a variant to record a specific configuration under a product line, such as a capacity or material option.

### Steps

1. On the **Products** page, select the product line in the table.
2. In the detail rail, click **Add variant**.
3. Enter the variant details.
4. Click **Add variant**. The dialog closes, the new variant appears in the rail's variant list, and a toast confirms it was added.

### Field reference

| Variant name | Yes      | A name for this variant, for example "mRoy A".                                                          |                                                                 |
| Build type   | No       | Choose **Configured** or **ETO**.                                                                       | Defaults to the line's first order type.                        |
| Attributes   | No       | Type capacity, material and build details separated by commas, for example "to 20 GPH, 316SS, Simplex". | Signal shows a live preview of the attribute chips as you type. |

### Notes

* This feature may not be enabled for your organization. Ask your Zephyr Intel contact.
* Leaving Variant name blank shows "Required" under the field.
* If saving fails, the dialog shows the server's message, or "Failed to add variant." if none is given.
