# Use the command palette

The command palette is a quick search and filter tool on Empire View. Use it to jump to an asset or apply a filter without touching the mouse.

> **Screenshot placeholder:** the command palette open on Empire View with a partial serial number typed and a few asset results plus a "Filter by brand" shortcut showing.

### Before you begin

The command palette only works on Empire View. The keyboard shortcut does nothing on other pages.

### Steps

1. On Empire View, press **Ctrl+K** (Windows) or **⌘K** (Mac). You can also click the "⌘K" chip inside the search box in the toolbar.
2. Leave the search empty to see **Quick actions**, or type to search.
3. Use the up and down arrow keys, or your mouse, to highlight a result.
4. Press **Enter**, or click, to choose it.
5. Press **Esc**, or click outside the palette, to close it without choosing anything.

### What you see

With an empty search, four quick actions appear:

| Action | Effect |
| ------------------------ | -------------------------------------------- |
| Filter by Online status | Filters Empire View to Online assets |
| Filter by Offline status | Filters Empire View to Offline assets |
| Filter by Unknown status | Filters Empire View to Unknown-status assets |
| Clear all filters | Removes all active filters |

When you type, Signal searches serial number, brand, model, customer, facility and equipment type across the assets already loaded on the page, up to 20 results. If your search matches a brand name, up to three "Filter by brand" shortcuts appear above the results. Choosing an asset opens its Quick View panel on Empire View. From there you can open the full detail page.

### Notes

* The palette only searches assets that have already loaded on Empire View, not your full catalog.
