# Collapse or expand the sidebar

Collapse the sidebar to see more of the page, or expand it to see the full navigation labels.

### Steps

1. On desktop or tablet, find the control at the bottom of the sidebar.
2. Click **Collapse sidebar** to shrink it to icons only.
3. Click the same control, now icon-only, to expand it again.

### Notes

* This setting is not saved. The sidebar returns to its default state, expanded on desktop and collapsed on tablet, the next time you open Signal.
