# Who can do what in Empire View

What you can do in Empire View depends on your account's permissions. Signal hides or disables controls you cannot use, so a missing button usually means a missing permission.

### What each permission shows

| If your account can... | You see... |
| ---------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| create assets | **New Asset** and **Bulk Import** |
| edit assets | **Change Status** and **Duplicate** |
| archive assets | **Archive** |
| promote assets | **Promote**, **Restore**, and the **Drafts** and **Archived** toggles |

Some controls need more than one permission. For example, the **Drafts** and **Archived** toggles appear if your account can either promote or archive assets.

### What to do if a control is missing

If you do not see a button described elsewhere in these pages, such as **Archive** or **New Asset**, your account does not have the matching permission. Ask your administrator to grant it if you need it.
