# Promote drafts

Promote draft assets to active so they show up in Empire View's default list and in hunting signals and analytics.

### Before you begin

If you do not see the **Drafts** toggle or the **Promote** button, your account does not have the permission to promote assets. Ask your administrator.

### Steps

1. Click **Drafts** in the toolbar to show only draft assets.
2. Select the assets you want to promote (see Select rows). **Promote** only appears when every asset in your selection is a draft.
3. Click **Promote** in the action bar.

Signal promotes each selected asset to active, clears your selection and refreshes the table. There is no confirmation step.

### Notes

* Why an asset can be a draft: when someone without the permission to promote assets creates assets through bulk import, Signal saves them as drafts instead of active. They stay hidden from the default active list until a person with that permission promotes them.
* Promoting an asset does not change anything else about it, only its lifecycle stage.
