# Empire View overview

Empire View is the catalog of every asset your organization tracks in Signal. Open it from the sidebar link **Empire View** on a desktop, or the **Assets** tab at the bottom of the screen on a phone.

### The three zones

Empire View is built from three areas, stacked top to bottom:

* **Summary strip.** Five cards showing counts across your whole fleet: total assets, status breakdown, aftermarket revenue, brands and equipment types. See Read the summary strip.
* **Toolbar.** Search, filters, lifecycle toggles (Drafts and Archived), active filter pills, and buttons for Export, Bulk Import, New Asset, saved views, columns and view mode.
* **Table or map.** The asset list itself, or a map of where your customers' assets are, depending on the view mode you choose.

### Who sees which controls

Everyone who can sign in to Signal can open Empire View and see the list. What you can do on the page depends on your account's permissions:

* Buttons like **New Asset**, **Bulk Import**, **Change Status**, **Archive**, **Promote** and **Restore** only appear if your account has the matching permission.
* The **Drafts** and **Archived** toggles only appear if your account can promote or delete assets.

### Desktop compared to mobile

On a phone or narrow tablet screen, Empire View simplifies:

* The summary strip is hidden.
* The toolbar becomes two stacked rows.
* The table becomes a list of cards instead of a grid.
* Map and Split view are not available. You always see the list.
* Export, Bulk Import, Columns and the view-mode buttons are hidden, and bulk-action Export is hidden.

### Opening a specific asset directly

Some links elsewhere in Signal, such as from a customer's page, open Empire View with a specific asset or a set of filters already applied. When this happens, Signal opens the Quick View panel for that asset automatically, or applies the filters that were passed in. If the linked asset cannot be found, Signal shows a message telling you it could not open the asset.

### Notes

* While your organization's full asset catalog is still loading, a bar near the top of the page shows how many assets have loaded so far. Counts on the page can keep growing for a few seconds after you sign in or reload.
