# Delete a document

Remove a document from the hub when it is no longer needed.

### Steps

1. Point at the document's row and click the trash icon, **Delete**. On a phone, tap **Delete document**.
2. Confirm by clicking **Delete** in the "Delete document?" dialog. Click **Cancel** to back out instead.

Once you confirm, the document is removed and you cannot bring it back yourself. Make sure it is the right file before you confirm.

### Notes

The confirmation dialog says the action can be undone by an admin. Signal has no way to restore a deleted document today, so treat the deletion as permanent.

If the document cannot be identified, Signal shows "Document identifier is missing." If the removal fails for another reason, it shows "Failed to delete document." or a message from the server.
