# Invite and manage portal users

Add the people at a customer who need to sign in to their portal, and keep their access current.

### Roles

| Role   | What it can do                                                               |
| ------ | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Viewer | Read-only access. Cannot add assets.                                         |
| Editor | Add and edit equipment and maintenance. This is the default for new invites. |
| Admin  | Everything Editor can do, plus admin panel access.                           |

### Add a user

1. On the customer's Portal tab, click **Add User**.
2. Enter **Email** and **Name**.
3. Choose a **Role**.
4. Leave **Facility Access** as **All facilities**. This is the only option today.
5. Click **Send Invite**. Signal shows **Invitation sent.** and the new user appears in the **Portal Users** list.

### Manage an existing user

Open the **⋯** menu on a user's row:

* **Resend invite** (only for a user who has not accepted yet) sends the invite again with the same role and facility access. Shows **Invitation re-sent.**
* **Remove** takes the user out of the portal immediately. There is no confirmation step. Shows **User removed.**

### Notes

* **Deactivate** and **Reactivate** appear in the menu but do not change anything yet. Use **Remove** if you need to take away access.
* **Facility Access** cannot be restricted to specific facilities yet; every invited user can see all facilities.
* If an action fails, Signal shows **Failed to invite user. Please try again.** or **Failed to remove user. Please try again.**
