# Change a customer's account type

Change whether a customer is treated as a distributor or an end user. This changes labels and views on their page; it does not move any of their data.

### Steps

1. On the customer's page, click **Change type**.
2. Choose **Distributor** or **End user**. The card for the customer's current type is marked **(current)**.
3. Click **Change type** to save. The button reads **Saving…**.

### What you see

* Choosing **Distributor**: the customer's sites become **Offices**, their assets count as served, and an **End users served** view appears on their page.
* Choosing **End user**: the customer's sites become **Facilities**, and their assets count as installed at that account.

### Notes

* Changing the type only changes labels and which views you see. It does not move facilities, contacts, or assets.
* There is no option in this dialog to clear a customer's type back to untyped once one has been set.
* If you change a distributor to an end user, the **End users served** view no longer appears for that customer.
* If saving fails, Signal shows the error it received, or **"Failed to change account type."**
