# Record Operating and Design Conditions

Record how an asset actually runs and how it was rated to run, so anyone quoting parts or planning service can compare the two.

### What each card is for

* **Operating Conditions** holds the measured or actual process values you observe in the field: flow rate, pressures, temperature, speed and similar readings.
* **Design Conditions** holds the values the equipment was rated for when it was specified or built.

Both cards also hold a longer list of secondary fields, such as Voltage, Efficiency, NPSH and head measurements, that only appear when a value is present unless you choose to show all fields.

### Steps

1. Open the **Technical** tab.
2. Click **Edit** on **Operating Conditions** or **Design Conditions**.
3. Enter or update values.
4. Click **Save**. While Signal is saving, the button reads "Saving…".

### Units

Every field on these cards is free text. Signal does not enforce or convert units, so include the unit with the value, for example "150 GPM" or "1800 RPM". Use the same units your organization already uses for this equipment so readings stay comparable over time.

### Clearing a value

To remove a value, open the card for editing, clear the field, and save. Signal removes the value.

### Notes

* Only one card on the Technical tab can be in edit mode at a time.
* Signal only sends the fields you actually changed.
