# Reassign an asset to a different customer

Reassign an asset when equipment has moved to a different customer, or was assigned to the wrong one.

### Before you begin

You need editing access to this asset's organization, and Signal needs at least one customer loaded to choose from. If you do not see an **Edit** link next to the customer, ask your administrator.

### Steps

1. Open the **Overview** tab.
2. In the **Customer & Location** section, click **Edit** next to the customer name.
3. Choose a customer from the dropdown list.
4. Click **Save**. The button shows "Saving…" while it updates.
5. The section closes and shows the new customer, with a confirmation message.

### Notes

* **Save** stays disabled until you pick a different customer than the one currently shown.
* Click **Cancel** to close the editor without changing anything.
* If the save fails, an error message explains why and the previous customer stays assigned.
