# Archive an asset

Archive an asset when it is no longer part of the customer's active fleet and you want it out of everyday views without deleting its history.

### Before you begin

You need Signal access to this asset's organization. If **Archive** does not appear in the **⋯** menu, ask your administrator. **Archive** is not available for an asset that is already archived.

Archiving hides the asset from Empire View, reports and hunting signals. To restore it, a user who can promote assets turns on the **Archived** toggle in Empire View, selects the asset and clicks **Restore**. If nobody on your team sees those controls, contact your Zephyr Intel contact.

### Steps

1. Click the **⋯** menu in the header, then click **Archive**.
2. In the confirmation dialog, review the asset and click **Archive**.
3. Signal archives the asset, shows a confirmation, and takes you back to Empire View.

### Notes

* See Archive and restore assets in the Empire View section for the restore steps.
* Archiving does not delete the asset's data. Its records, BOM, orders and documents are kept, just hidden from active views.
* If the archive action fails, a message explains why and the asset stays active. Common reasons are a lost session or missing access.
