# Asset Detail overview

Asset Detail shows everything Signal knows about one piece of equipment. There is no separate page title. Instead you see the serial number, a status badge and a line with brand, model and equipment type at the top of the page.

> **Screenshot placeholder:** Asset Detail on desktop showing the header (serial, status badge, identity line, four cards) and the tab row with **Overview** selected.

### How to reach it

You reach Asset Detail from several places:

* Empire View, using **Open full detail** from an asset's quick view.
* The hunting list on your dashboard.
* A customer's page, by clicking one of their assets.
* The mobile home screen.
* A direct link or bookmark someone shares with you.

Viewing an asset only requires that you are signed in. Editing individual fields and controls needs specific access, covered in "Who can do what on an asset."

### Page layout

Below the header, the page is organized into tabs: **Overview**, **Technical**, **BOM & Stock**, **Orders** and **Documents**. Some organizations also see a **Maintenance** tab. Overview opens by default when you arrive at the page.

### Linking to a specific tab

You can share a link that opens directly to a tab by adding `?tab=` to the asset's URL, followed by `overview`, `technical`, `bom`, `orders` or `documents`. If your organization has the Maintenance tab enabled, `maintenance` works too. If it is not enabled, a link to `?tab=maintenance` opens Overview instead.

### What you see while the page loads

* While data is loading, you see placeholder blocks instead of content.
* If the asset fails to load, you see a link back to Empire View and an error message.
* If the asset does not exist, you see a link back to Empire View and "Asset not found".
