# Understand unknown model/brand sales

Not every spare-part sale can be tied back to a specific brand and model. This page explains why, and where those sales show up.

### How Signal matches a sale to a model

Signal matches each spare-part sale to an asset using the pump serial number on the sale record. If it finds a match, it credits that asset's brand and model code with the sale. A sale can go unmatched for one of these reasons:

* The sale record has no serial number.
* The serial number on the sale record does not match any asset in your account.
* The matching asset exists, but its brand or model code is missing or unknown.

### The "Unlinked" brand

Unmatched sales are not dropped. Signal groups them under a brand called **Unlinked**, organized by spare-part number instead of by pump. This keeps sales visible even when they come from a parts feed that never recorded a pump serial number, such as some OEM part orders.

### Where you see it

Below the Brand / Model Sales Share chart, a line labeled "Unknown model/brand sales" shows the volume and revenue of unmatched sales, each as a share of total sales. Hover the info icon next to it for a breakdown, including the number of serials with sales.

* Click **View in Empire** to open Empire View filtered to the customers and serials behind these sales.
* Click **Download CSV** to export the underlying sale records. The file uses the columns Create Date, Document Number, Pump Serial Number, Spare Part, Customer and Amount (USD).

### Notes

* This feature may not be enabled for your organization. Ask your Zephyr Intel contact.
* If your organization's sales data has not been connected, this line shows no figures.
