# Find a user and read their record

Find a user's account to check their organization, role, permissions, or products.

Who can do this: Zephyr staff only.

### Steps

1. Open Organization Admin. **User Management** is the default tab.
2. Click **Refresh** if you want the latest list before searching.
3. In the search field, type a name, email, or organization id. The list filters as you type.
4. Click a row to open that user's record on the right.

### What you see

Each row in the list shows the user's name, email, and a line reading their role and first organization id, for example `admin · org_abc123`. If the user has no organization id at all, the line reads `· no org id` instead, which means Signal cannot scope simulated access to that user.

A user currently being simulated shows an amber **simulating** pill next to their name.

Selecting a user shows their name, email, id, and current organization, along with the permissions and products editors described in [Edit a user's permissions](/administration-zephyr-staff/user-management-tab/edit-a-users-permissions.md) and [Grant products to a user (Elevate)](/administration-zephyr-staff/user-management-tab/grant-products-to-a-user-elevate.md).

### Notes

* If the list fails to load, Signal shows an error banner naming the HTTP status and any detail returned.
* If nobody matches your search, the list shows **No users match.**
