# Set the invited-data ownership policy

Set who owns the records an invited organization creates while working in your host organization's facilities.

Who can do this: staff admin only.

### Before you begin

Find the organization first. See [Find an organization](/administration-zephyr-staff/organizations-tab/find-an-organization.md).

### Steps

1. With the organization loaded, find **Invited-data ownership policy** in the overview.
2. Choose one of the two options:
   * **Invitee org owns their data**: the invited organization keeps ownership of records it creates. This is the default.
   * **Inviter (host) org owns the data**: the host organization owns records the invited organization creates in its facilities.
3. Click **Save**. The button is disabled until you choose a different option than the one already saved.

### What you see

A confirmation message reports that the ownership policy was updated. The overview reflects the new setting immediately.

### Notes

* Saving this policy does not ask you to type a confirmation phrase, unlike most other changes on this tab.
* If you do not have staff admin, this field shows as read-only text and cannot be changed.
